Crowd Sourced Voice acting?

Next up on our mission to get some solid entertainment value into our project design is to look at how Voice acting can add a central unifying element to a virtual experience.

Remember Oblivion, Elder Scrolls?  Was there 4-5 voice actors total for all the characters?  Even still I didn’t mind, and neither did millions of others who bought and played that game.

My take is to do as many of the voices as we can with our limited resources, then open it up to the meta-verse to voice the rest.  Is it possible?

Gridrock production values

We are aiming for a complete immersion into our environment in the latest designs. Starting literally from the ground up we are going to make sure important but often forgotten aspects are approaching perfection in the details. (perfect is relative !!!)

Assets ideally should be:

  • Original artists conception
  • Based on unified theme and design direction
  • Best quality using open source or low cost tools wherever possible
  • Optimized for performance
  • Using the latest time saving platforms and techniques

For example I feel  the soundtrack, effects, and npc dialog are what makes a virtual gaming experience stand out which is sorely lacking from my traditional virtual world experience. This is where I am personally focusing some efforts using a fun and simple Ipad application, Garage band.

Another key element is terrain textures, work is underway to improve upon what we have and capture original and stunning terrain texture sets from our own photos.  This is sometimes picky work that is made more fun by having a direct connection to the sources.

I’m not going to rush anything, but expect to have something great to show within 8 months to a year.
